Description: c.1770 Plymouth Historical Society Building was the original Grafton County courthouse. Thought to be the setting for Hawthorne's famous story "The Devil & Daniel Webster". Daniel Webster pleaded his first case here.

The Second Pemi - 1863-1909
It was in this building that the writer Nathaniel Hawthorne died. The building was destroyed by fire in 1909.
