Description: Founded in 1866 as a destination resort The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel has over 15,000 acres and is open year-round and offers elegant accommodations, award-winning dining and unlimited use of resort activities and amenities.

Tour the many historic displays along hallways and in sitting rooms. The First in the Nation Ballot Room is open to the public when not in use.

Located at the famous Balsams Grand Resort Hotel in Dixville Notch. NH is the first state to vote in each election, the Town of Dixville Notch (15 voters) gathers at midnight to complete the voting process. Once all have voted, the poll can close and tabulate the results to submit to the government to secure the title. This is a wonderful stop for an upscale lunch with plenty of activities on the grounds.

Hours: All year. (the Hotel is closed from November 1 to the week before Christmas, and from the last weekend in March to the third week of May. Simply knock on the door and if someone is there, they will be happy to show you around the Ballot Room)
